Join the 145 Alive 50 Day Challenge Today

If you’ve ever taken part in a 145 Alive event, you will already know just how well it pumps up enthusiasm for operating on 2 metres.

But here’s the big question… Is the community able to keep that momentum going between events?

145 Alive organiser John M0XJA is throwing down a challenge.

The 145 Alive – 50 Day Challenge

The idea is that you commit to making one or more 2M QSOs per day for 50 or more days.

At the time of this article, we have got 62 days between now and the next 145 Alive event, so hitting 50 active days should absolutely be achievable. Some days will be busy, some days conditions won’t be perfect, but one contact a day? That’s absolutely doable.

Why This Matters

2 metres is often described as “quiet” — but it doesn’t have to be.

Activity breeds activity.

When people know others are calling:

  • They switch the radio on.
  • They monitor the calling channel 145.500Mhz.
  • They throw out a CQ.
  • They answer someone.

Before long, the band feels alive again, just like during the event weekends.

Can You Do It Too?

Now here’s where it gets interesting…

If you can manage 50 days with at least one 2M QSO per day, the 145 Alive organisers want to hear from you!

📧 Send your log in ADIF format to:

Submit it before the next 145 Alive event.

Those who complete the challenge will receive a special acknowledgement from the 145 Alive team by way of a certificate. By way of an update there is more, the organisers have now said that certificates will be issued for those achieving 35, 40, 45 & 50 QSOs.

That’s it. Simple. Achievable. Motivating.

Let’s Get the Calling Channel Alive — TODAY!

Don’t wait for the weekend.
Don’t wait for perfect conditions.
Don’t wait for someone else to call first.

Switch on the radio, tune to the calling channel, and throw out your callsign.

Let’s prove that the 145 Alive spirit doesn’t just happen during the event — it’s something we can maintain all year round.

I’m starting today, are you?
