The next development phase of Parks On The Air (POTA) is now here.

It is being tested live and can be used here: https://next.pota.app/

Changes include:

• A cleaner look.

• Better operation on mobile devices.

• More sorting and filtering options.

• Customisable spot information.

• Faster modern software.

• And sticky comments that let activators put important information directly on an active spot.

The below image shows an example of the new sticky notes feature on the spots page.

The application also has a new mapping feature which shows, at a glance, which parks you have activated, hunted and also those you never taken any active part in.

Did you know it currently costs the team between $3,700 to $4,000 each month to run the POTA system i.e. the storing and managing of the QSO and parks data. The system runs on volunteers and donations.

POTA’s development team has integrated Claude Code to increase work velocity while maintaining human control over the process. This implementation enabled significant updates between late May and mid-August 2026 as the program’s user base surpassed 90,000.
